Technical fit

What this service can—and cannot—address

Protect storm or sanitary laterals from an accessible exterior installation point.

  • Excavation depth, utilities and soil conditions affect scope.
  • Not every municipal subsidy covers exterior valves.
  • Access lids must remain visible and protected after landscaping.

Flood Ready separates observations from assumptions, identifies permits and municipal-programme requirements, and documents the work included in the quotation.

Frequently asked questions

Clear answers before you book

Why install a valve outside?

An exterior location can provide access to the building lateral without opening an interior floor, but suitability is property-specific.

Can two valves be installed?

Some properties have separate storm and sanitary laterals. Any dual-valve recommendation requires inspection and programme review.

Is exterior work eligible in Markham?

Markham currently lists eligible outdoor storm or sanitary backwater valves under its programme, subject to pre-approval and other requirements.

Is exterior work eligible in Halton?

Halton’s current application states that backwater valves must be installed inside the home to qualify for that subsidy.
